Trump: 100% import tariffs on this sector if he wins election

On March 16, local time, Trump said that if he returns to the White House, he will impose 100 percent tariffs on cars made outside the United States.

Buchwal, chief investment officer at Blackley Financial Group in the United States, warned that it would be an economic disaster if the United States imposed a 60 percent tariff on any country.

Speaking about tariffs on imported cars and the impact of foreign countries on the U.S. auto industry, Trump said, “We’re going to put 100 percent tariffs on every car that comes in, and if I’m elected, you won’t be able to sell these things.” He added, “As it stands now, if I’m not elected …… it’s going to be a ‘holocaust’ for this country.”

When asked about the meaning of “carnage,” Trump’s campaign pointed out that auto manufacturing is a mainstay industry in Ohio, and that Biden’s policies would bring an economic “carnage” to the auto industry and auto workers.
